• Using the Circle tool or the Box tool, click, then drag the mouse diagonally to draw out a oval or a rectangle.
• The center point is used for alignment* and does not print.
• Hold the Shift key down to draw a true square or circle.
• Holding the Option key before starting to draw a rectangle or oval draws out from the center rather than the corner.
• You can hold both Option and Shift to draw centered circles and squares.
• Circles/boxes drawn with these tools are actually grouped objects and can't be resized by clicking & dragging on a corner point, as you would in MacDraw.

Adobe Illustrator has a "snap to point" feature. Since circles and boxes have this center point, by dragging the circle/box by this center point and moving it close to another point, the circle/box will "snap to" that point for precise alignment. This is useful for arranging circles in a concentric formation.
